Southern Vermont's Premier Boys AAU Organization
Number #1: Retired in Memoriam
In Memory of PFC Kyle Charles Gilbert
PFC Kyle Charles Gilbert died August 6, 2003 in Iraq. He was killed in action, in Iraq, serving his country with the 82nd Airborne. His last request, in a telephone call to his loving parents, was that he not be forgotten.
His family, friends, and parents have honored him in many ways. His community dedicated a monument to him. There will always be prayers said for him.
Our 2004, 14 year old team dedicated their Championship Season to him and his family. We will always be proud of the fact that we played the National Anthem in his honor before every game and wore black arm bands with his initials all season.
Most of our parents and players never knew him, but Kyle and the Mallers will forever be connected. Our last game of the 2004 season at the AAU National Championship Tournament in Orlando, FL was on the one year anniversary of Kyle's death.
In his honor, we have retired the #1. We will always be grateful for his service to his country and thank him for the privilege to honor and always remember him.
From all the Maller players and families
